The Good Shepherd: A Prayer

My grandmother, Myrtle, wrote this prayer and gave it to me before she passed away in 2010. My grandfather recently passed away, too. I miss them both a lot, but I’m grateful to know they’re at home in the Lord’s mansion now. ❤️

The Good Shepherd

He gave his life for his sheep
that none would go astray.
The road is long and narrow,
let the Shepherd guide your way.

He knows our joys and sorrows
for he walked the road before
Weary with our burdens
and willing to carry more.

He took our sins upon him
and died upon the cross
For all who would believe in him
not one soul would be lost.

Jesus is our Shepherd,
let him be your guide.
The path through life will be safer
with the Shepherd by your side.

And when the morning is over
and we are nearing eventide
He will have prepared a room for us
in his mansion to abide.
